5K Race

Pick up your Race Number in Advance

To avoid race day crowds, entrants are encouraged to pick up their numbers, scoring tags, t-shirts and goody bags ahead of time. You can pick your packet up at Fleet Feet (604 Washington Street) on Thursday, 10/26 and Friday, 10/27 between 12pm-9pm.

You may pick up a packet for a friend.

Race Day Pickup

Materials will be available on race day in the registration area of Pier A Park in Hoboken on the day of the race. Pickup starts at 8am — expect long lines, please arrive early.

T-shirts and goody bags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Race Day Schedule

8:00 – 9:45am: Packet Pickup at Pier A Park Hoboken

9:00 – 9:45 am: Costume Judging* by the DJ Booth & Vendors open

9:45 am: 10 minute Warmup by Retro Fitness

9:55 am: National Anthem

10:00 am: 5K Race Start!!!

10:30 – 11:30 am: Post Race vendors open, with tacos from Surf Taco, cookies from Insomnia Cookie, Coffee from Bean Vault Coffee & much, much more.

10:45 am: Post Race Stretch by Powerflow Yoga,  Relax your muscles and your mind after the HoBOOken 5K with the Powerflow Yoga post-race stretch! We’ll hit the areas of your body that worked the hardest so you can feel your best from your run (20 minutes)

11:00 am: Scary Scurry Kid’s Race

11:15 am: Winners of 5K & Costume Contest announced

12:00 pm: After party hosted at the Wicked Wolf Tavern

* To enter the costume contest go to the DJ Booth to be judged between 9:00 and 9:45. We will special guest judges.

Street parking is generally limited in Hoboken and we are not responsible for any tickets you receive. Please consider using public transit, reserving a spot ahead of time with Spot Hero, or checking into municipal garage options (get more details here).

Baggage

For your convenience, free baggage facilities will be provided at the race. Please consider not bringing a bag to check on race day. Leave your valuables at home. The Hoboken Shelter is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Course Details

The HoBOOken5K is a flat and fast race, run through Hoboken.

Rules of Competition

Entrants must comply with City of Hoboken Parks and Recreation rules, or risk disqualification.

After the Race

The fun doesn’t have to stop after the race! Join your fellow runners and check out the great vendors on the pier including Surf Taco, Bean Vault Coffee, cider from Stony Hill Farms, and more! There will be food provided by ShopRite, Acme Markets, Insomnia Cookies, Surf Taco and more. Then join us at the after party at Wicked Wolf!

5K Race Timing

The race will be timed by Compuscore. The timing device will be a b-tag that you will receive attached to your bib. We’ll have timing mats at both the start and the finish, which means your net time will be recorded regardless of when you cross the start line.

Results will be available at Compuscore about a day after the race.

In order to avoid congestion at the start we’ll have minute per mile signs. Please line up at your expected pace per mile (6,7, 8, 9, 10, 11+). Walkers please line up at the back.

In the inaugural race, we had 1,100 finishers!

2011
In our second year, registration sold out and raised over $20,000 for the Hoboken Shelter. Despite an October Nor’easter (!), almost 1,000 runners braved the elements.

2012
In the third year, we had another sell-out crowd and raised over $36,000 for the Hoboken Shelter. And it couldn’t have been a better year to hand them that check—Hurricane Sandy swept in after the race and exponentially increased demand at the Shelter.

2013
In the fourth year, we had more than 1,600 runners cross the finish line on a beautiful Fall day and we capped off the first Hoboken Race Series.

2014
Our fifth year was our biggest fundraising year as of yet with a donation of $48,000 to the Hoboken Shelter!

2015
With the race falling on Halloween, our sixth year proved to be exciting! We had over 1,700 runners and raised more than $50,000 for the Hoboken Shelter.

Our seventh year had a record number of sponsors and supporters—bringing the biggest donation to the Shelter to date! $63,000 was raised for the Hoboken Shelter and supportive services.
